how to keep pressure treated fencing looking like new?

While pressure-treated wood fencing is durable and resistant to decay and insects, there are several steps you can take to help make it last even longer:

  1. Seal the wood: Applying a sealant to your pressure-treated wood fence can help protect it from moisture and sun damage. Choose a sealant that is specifically designed for pressure-treated wood and apply it according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Clean the fence regularly: Regularly cleaning your fence can help prevent the buildup of dirt, grime, and other debris that can cause the wood to deteriorate. Use a mild detergent and a soft-bristled brush to scrub the fence, then rinse it thoroughly with a hose.
  3. Trim nearby vegetation: If you have plants or trees growing near your fence, make sure to trim them regularly. Overgrown vegetation can trap moisture against the fence, which can lead to rot and decay.
  4. Avoid contact with soil: Avoid burying the bottom of the fence posts in soil as this can cause them to rot more quickly.  The soil in Cambridge and surrounding areas can be particularly moist in certain times of the year. Instead, use concrete footings or post anchors to secure the posts in place.
  5. Repair damage promptly: If you notice any damage to your fence, such as cracked or split boards, repair it as soon as possible. Small issues can quickly escalate into larger problems, so it's best to address them promptly.

By following these tips, you can help extend the lifespan of your pressure-treated wood fence and keep it looking great for years to come.  For more tips or to enquire about a professional pressure treated fence installation, give us a call at Cambridge Fence, a highly-rated fencing company in Cambridge that has years of experience.
